Chosen solution

I can confirm this behavior. Upon detaching an attachment from a HTML message, the HTML body text gets scrambled, and the message becomes barely readable if at all. Only happened after the 52.9.0 update. The affected messages are primarily from Outlook/Exchange users in a corporate environment.

I'm not seeing that here, so I suggest you first run in safe mode to see if the problem remains (hold Shift when you launch TB, or Help/Restart with Add-ons Disabled).

Also, do you have an antivirus program scanning email?
