How can I get Firefox to stop converting csv files to ahk files and just open csv files in excel??
When I try to download a csv file, I get the dialog box to either open the file or save it. I choose open the file and nominate excel as the program i want it to open in. The file opens in excel but in the process it has been converted from csv to an ahk file and all the row values are in text format with comma separators and in one column.
Previously, Firefox used to just open the file in excel with row values formated to different columns and file was maintained as a csv file.

Separate Security Issue, please update your Flash 27.0 r0 by removing it with this tool : https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html Flash Player Version: 30.0.0.134 Current Version https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/ Step 1: Select Operating System Step 2: Select A Version (Firefox, . . . .) Note: Other software is offered in the download. <Windows Only>
Hi Peter, ya 1st have heard with CSV issues, it has been PDF's all week.
1st the easy solution : is a Download Manager Extension, the 1st and the 3rd are the best but can pick what you like for your self : https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/search/?platform=windows&q=download+manager
They other is to : uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files , C:\Program Files(x86) & C:\ProgramData Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. (Note: This should be Pinned and run Weekly, If never done below expect 10's of gig's) Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do :

Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 61.0.1 with a Full Version Installer

Does it work if you first save the file and give it the correct file extension?
What is an ahk file for Excel purposes? It makes me think of AutoHotkey which doesn't really make sense...
If Firefox has erroneously associated the .ahk extension with CSV files, you may need to clear that out. One method is as follows:
Open your current Firefox settings (AKA Firefox profile) folder using either
- "3-bar" menu button > "?" Help > Troubleshooting Information
- (menu bar) Help > Troubleshooting Information
- type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter
In the first table on the page, on the Profile Folder row, click the "Open Folder" button. This should launch a new window listing various files and folders in Windows Explorer.
Leaving that window open, switch back to Firefox and Exit, either:
- "3-bar" menu button > Exit/Quit
- (menu bar) File > Exit (or Firefox > Quit)
Pause while Firefox finishes its cleanup, then rename handlers.json to something like handlersOLD.json. If you see a file named mimeTypes.rdf, rename that one to mimeTypesOLD.rdf.
Start Firefox back up again and it should start a new handlers.json file. Any improvement?
Thanks guys. Seems to be working ok now. Cheers.
