Thunderbird 60 crashes with sound file and lightning. Since I deactivated lightning it is o.k. I recommend offering lightning as separate addon again

I tried everything (local calendar or online an so on). Version 52.9.1 works excellent, but 60 runs only without lightning (disable during installation). With lightning it crashes not directly, but after some time, for example: you have a marker in the calendar to inform you by sound or similar.Go back to a separate add-on.

Did you submit a crash report?

> Go back to a separate add-on.

Lightning doesn't need to be separate for you to be able to disable it.

During the installprocess you can decide to deactivate lightning in TB 60. I tried it several times with lightning and the crashresult; without lightning it works perfect like TB 59, but there you install lightning separatly as add-on. I have no crash report, for I uninstalled everything for a clean new trial but....(separate lightning from TB 60, back to a single add-on, thats it - probably). I am working (not the best solution, but it works) with the old sunbird, completely separatet from TB an so also TB 60 works without crash.Regrads Thomas

Well perhaps you could re enable Lightning so we can get a crash report so we can do more than guess. Lightning will not ever be going back to a stand alone add-on. Full integration is more likely.

hallo Matt, how should I do this. Lightning is not more offered as add-on for TB 60 and in the program I cann´t find any information how to acitvate lightning? Regards Thomas

so, I could reactivate Lightning, importet a calendar per ics-file, put in a new date with rememberoption, restartet the computer, startet thunderbird (with lightning) and exact at the date (with remeberinformation) Thunderbird crashed. I have a crashreport. Where should I sent it to, this way here allows only jpg and so on? Regards Thomas

Please read this https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/mozilla-crash-reporter-tb#w_viewing-crash-reports

and provide the crashid for the submitted crash report.

I did what you want, I was asked for a mail adress, to sent the report to. Please help

In an attempt to make myself clear.

When you give me your crash id, I can go to this web site https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/ and look at it.

Without your crash id I have no way to determine which of the thousands of entries that come in worldwide are yours. For privacy reasons access to the email addresses submitted is restricted, but even if it were not. I have no idea what you put in your submission.

So please provider the crash id. More than one would be even better.

I see this bug as where this issue will be addressed. https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1482659

When you were using lightning, did you change the default sound played on reminders?

more options

hallo Matt, no I didn´t. Can I do anything or are you working on a solution and you will inform me? Regards Thomas

Hallo Matt, thats seems to be the solution: I reactivated lightning, importet a caldav-calendar (GMX), deactivated the sound and tested with a new date: no crash!!! Regards Thomas

one more.... what was the sound set to? The default chrome://calendar/content/sound.wav or a custom sound file?

more options

I used (active -no crash- with TB 52.9.1 or after deactivating in TB 60.2.1 -no further crash-) a custom sound file (wav).file. Regards Thomas

could you supply a copy of that, or a link to where it can be downloaded from. Or both.

The current thinking is the file is either corrupt or has some other issue. I am trying to work to a point where the bug is totally reproducible for a developer. Once they can reproduce an issue they can look towards fixing it.

I tried it already, but this way her doesn´t accept wav-files, I need an email-adress.

If the sound file is 'too large', it will crash TB:

hallo Matt, I tried a wav-file smaller than 2 MB (here 770 kb) no crash. The file I used before had about 2.2 MB.Regards Thomas

This should be resolved in a week or two with version 60.5.0
