Thunderbird stopped working on 1/12/2020

Hi, Thunderbird stopped working on my desktop at the beginning of this month with no input from me. I checked the server settings with those on my laptop, which was still working with Thunderbird, and made sure they were the same. It made no difference.

Very strange , no in or out messages on the desktop, with the same settings on the laptop. They both are version 78.5.1 but the desktop is 64bit while the laptop is 32bit.

It's obviously not the server or the settings, so must be something has changed with the desktop version.

Any help would be appreciated thanks

Cheers

If you are using ESET/NOD32 security/AV then probability is high that ESET is causing your problems. According to ESET forums, you should temporarily disable SSL on ESET until they solve the problem per https://support.eset.com/en/kb3126-disable-ssl-filtering-in-eset-windows-products.

You might also inform ESET that they have broken your system. The problem is being reported by hundreds of users https://forum.eset.com/topic/26517-problems-with-thunderbird-and-imaps/ https://forum.eset.com/discover/
