Not able to update Firefox on my iMac
I have received the 14 Jan Mozilla Update warning a few times now, and I have tried to update Firefox, but it seems my computer sytem is now too old - iMac 0X El Capitan 10.11.6. PLEASE NOTE, I have an iMac from early 2009 and I am now unable to update my system to any other Mac version.
I lost all my saved pages and bookmarks recently when I tried to update Firefox using the instructions online. Unfortunately it was only after updating removed old Firefox that I was then informed that I would not be able to use the new version with my computer. I was able to resurrect my old Firefox from a backup, and would like to continue to use it as I am very happy with Firefox as a browser.
Are there any work-arounds that would allow me to use Firefox on my iMac - it is working perfectly and has just been cleaned and I've had a new hard drive installed - it seems incredibly wasteful to have to buy a new computer! Yours hopefully!

Firefox 116.0 and later requires macOS 10.15 or later to run. Firefox 79.0 to 115 ESR requires macOS 10.12, 10.13, 10.14 to run. For the old eol macOS 10.9, 10.10, 10.11 the latest version you can run is Firefox 78.15.0esr
If by chance your hardware can allow updates to macOS 10.12 then you would be able to use Firefox 115 ESR.
Otherwise another option is dual booting with a Linux distro though that may not be so easy compared to installing Linux on normal computer hardware with a AMD or Intel CPU.

Thanks for this James.
I am running Firefox 78.15Oesr and have checked regarding any further Mac updates, but unfortunately it looks like I am unable to update to Mac OS.12.
Your other option, while it sounds promising, is a bit beyond me - it's not something I would know how to do (and I have found from bitter experience that nobody is really interested in trying to help me make a super old Mac work... I may have to bite the proverbial bullet!)
