How to disable download notification in taskbar?
In addition to the Downloads window, I also get a little notification that appears from the taskbar to let me know that a download has completed. How can I disable it? I've checked Tools, Control Panel, the Taskbar options/properties, as well as the Add-on Manager (thinking maybe it was an extension that I added a while back). The option/feature doesn't show up anywhere. What am I missing here?? I want to turn it off.
Chosen solution
That is controlled by a hidden preference.
Type about:config in the URL bar and hit Enter.
If you see the warning, you can confirm that you want to access that page.
Filter = browser.download.manager.showAlertOnComplete
double-click that pref to toggle it to False, then restart Firefox.

Thanks for your help.
Although your reply is only a few weeks old, I correctly followed the steps to your solution, which did not work. The download manager windows continue to pop up.
That pref is about the notification that you get in the corner right of the Windows Taskbar.
If you do not want to see the Download Manager then see:
- Tools > Options > General : Downloads : "Show the Download window when downloading a file"
- Tools > Options > General : Downloads : "Close it when all downloads are finished"
