I always sort my Bookmarks into an appropriate folder as I create them. Two days ago, the Library view of bookmarks (Organize Bookmarks-the usual method I use to accesss various BkMrks in a particular folder) no longer showed any of the sorted folders; now today, using Command-B (Mac) all folder sorting has disappeared. All the bookmarks, that had been previously sorted into folders, still seem to be there; but they now display in random order. Also, just now when I went to save a new Bookmark, the folder sort no longer showed as a way of choosing a destination, in fact, no folders appeared at all as a choice. Even when I selected the Bookmarks Toolbar, no folders showed in the selection window. ps: My Bookmarks do all appear, in their properly sorted folders, in the BkMrks drop-down menu of a new Mozilla page. - Thanks for your help.

You are probably looking at a different sort order to usual.

■ In the Library view try Views -> Sort -> Unsorted

The menu bar at the top of the library window has a menu item views and an option sort, followed by options of unsorted, or what to sort by, and whether ascending or descending.

The sort order is temporary, and will not affect the bookmarks menu. Similar sorts may be obtained by clicking the column headers.

Views -> Sort -> Unsorted will only show (view) the bookmarks in the selected sort order and doesn't actually sort the bookmarks.

If you want to sort bookmarks then you need to do that via the right-click context menu in the Bookmarks Manager or sidebar.

Thanks. I'm aware of the methods for sorting lists. Doesn't address the issue. The attached JPG may clarify the issue. - thks / - - joseph

ps: I already tried a restore. / j

Hi, I did some more digging in the Knowledge Base and have come up with a solution, although have not completely verified the cause. The culprit may have been Default FolderX which I recently installed. I may have invoked one of its keyboard commands (unbeknownst to me) and DFX may have imposed itself in some fashion on FireFox. I had tried the info in the KnBase (delete: places.sqlite and places.sqlite-journal) when my sorted folders first disappeared, but the problem was not solved. Just now, in addition to deleting the two files again, I went into DFX's pref and told it to ignore FireFox. Now when I select Organize Bookmarks (Library View) or use Command-B from the menu, my sorted listing of folder has returned. The sorted folders also have returned when I want to save a new bookmark using Command-D.

Hope this helps others; thanks for your help. - - joseph
