Why can't I type in the address bar?

I can click on the address/location bar and highlight it but i can not type anything in. every page i want to go to i have to type into my little Google search bar and then select it from a list.

You may have visited a website that has disabled the location bar.
Try to open a new window to see if that gives you a working location bar.
If that works then close the not working window and close and restart Firefox to see if that stays.
