I'm trying to add a second device to my sync account, but when I click on the "add a device" link, the "add a device" screen does not pop up. What comes up is a firefox help page telling me how to add a device. Any advice?

Chosen solution

No, this is not related to the server issues.

The process is the same but in your mobile phone. Take a look to this other article. At the very bottom is explained how to do it. Click on "I'm not near my computer" and follow the steps: How to sync a mobile phone

I understand that you already have Firefox in your phone.

The other option, is to upgrade to Firefox 7.

The Sync service is currently having some server related problems they are working on resolving them as soon as possible. https://services.mozilla.com/status/

Hi!

I've been checking and I think i understand your issue. The instructions that you are seeing are for Firefox 4 and above, where the Add Device button gives you the pop up with 3 boxes for the code.

Unfortunately, you are trying this on a Firefox 3.6 and the way it works is a little different. In short, you need to use the Sync Key in the new device.

Please, refer to the second section of this article to get detailed instructions: How to sync Firefox between computers

Thanks for your responses... To Ibai - the link you included in your answer is not working. When I click on it i get the "page not found"... Also, I was trying to use the sync key in my new device, and it still wouldn't connect...

Maybe it's my computer, but I still get the "page not found" message  :(

It's not you, it's me having issues with the spaces in the URL. Here goes the good one: How to sync Firefox between computers

I updated all the previous ones.

Great - thanks - the link worked this time, but I guess I should have clarified in my original question that my other device is a Samsung SGH-I897 smartphone. I'm guessing that maybe it is a server issue like kbrosnan mentioned in his answer. I really appreciate all your help!

OK - it started syncing and it's been syncing for about a 1/2 hour and still going. Since it hasn't synced on this phone before, I'm assuming that amount of time is normal?????

Yep, that is normal for a first time sync.
