cc cleaner has altered page layout, missing buttons, pictures not shown with txt but below, certain pages also not now intertactive..cannot scroll and over buttons and click to enable choice. help to
Hi, Please help.
I'm currently using Firefox v4.0.1, which I like and am happy with, as it allows me to use my Kaspersky link filter and virtual keyboard.
Anyway, I recently decided to clean my registry and history using cc cleaner.. I did not back up as I had never experienced problems before. Once cc cleaner had finished and I opened Firefox I noticed that my two home page layouts had altered. The Supanet home page is now all disjointed, buttons are scattered to the left and right of the page, where once they where side by side, all of the images and text seem to be beneath each other and instead of one page i now have to scroll down and down to the full page, all text and image seem to be left margin. On the google home page certain buttons are there but the text within has disappeared, although the buttons work, a search for Mail online through google..(or Supanet home page) is not a problem, however, once we arrive at the site it pretty much displays the info in the same layout/manner as the Supanet hompage. Further more certain buttons on other sites are no longer interactive..eg, Asda voucher print out. i do not wish to update to other version of firefox as i would lose Kaspersky buttons..so please help..I've tried everything..even re installing version 4.0.1..Help, I now it must be simple..but I'm not a techie!! Many thanks!

There a few variations on the command to launch the Profile Manager, see if this one works better than the one you used.
Try typing firefox.exe -P in the Run box.
Make sure you have a space between exe and the hyphen that precedes the capital P, and no quotation marks with this version of the command.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.
See:
Please update Firefox to the latest version via "Help > About Firefox" or "Help > Check for Updates"
The Firefox Firefox 4.0.1 version that you currently run is no longer supported with security updates.
You can find the latest Firefox release in all languages and for all Operating Systems here:

Hi Co-rel, many thanks for your quick response. Just to update you, since I posted this question yesterday..30/1/12, regards the Supanet home page..I tried..(again) to refresh the page to see if that would correct the problem..bingo, it seemed to do the trick. However, Daily mail online still not displaying and certain buttons still not interactive. do forgive me, but what exactly is a new profile?..in terms of a browser..I will check your suggestion out, but some clarity on the profile situ would be helpful. Many thanks, and kind regards. Wildmann

Hello the-edmeister, thanks for your reply. I was just reading about profiles, understand a bit more now. However, my new problem is that one has to open /set up a profile whilst Firefox is closed, I have copied and pasted the necessary address in the run box, but it just wont work, a small box flashes up informing me that windows cannot find the file, please make sure that I have typed it correctly..it was copied and pasted!!..this whole thing is frustrating! How do I open the profile page with Firefox closed down! Many thanks, Buyingmann

Hi the-eidmeister, just managed to get into the profile page, and have set up a new profile, just about to trial the new profile. Thanks for your help, will let you and cor-el know how I get on.
Many thanks

Hi everyone, success, the new profile set up was easier than I thought it would be. I've learned something today! Also, the new profile seems to be running fine. The only thing that I now need to do is transfer my old settings etc, GULP! not too sure what I'll be doing here though, How will I know that I'm transferring all the good stuff etc, More hand holding required I'm afraid guys. I'm very grateful for your help. I do want to use cc cleaner again, but now I'm gonna have to do a little research as to why it changed my profile settings. I suppose I should back up the profile settings when asked..slap on the wrist..It's just that this has never happened before with cc cleaner. Anyway, I'd better look at how to transfer my old settings into the new profile.!? Many thanks for all your help guys, wildmann
Hi Cor-el, thanks for the link. Shall let you know how it all works out.
Hi Guys, everything is running fine now, well to a degree. I have created a new profile and have manged to move the old files into the new profile. In fact I created a third, and I'm playing around with this one buy importing files into it and testing it etc. It's been a good learning curve. Thanks for all your help.
I do have one more question though if I may. When I created my second profile I was able to create a choice Tag(?..if this is what it is called!?) in the main orange Firefox drop down button..top right. I remember it asking me if I wish to include in the drop down, as I thought that it would be useful..(and it is!) I agreed, it immediately placed the following text beneath the red exit button:
Launch another profile, and below this another line of text that reads: Open profile manager.
My question is: How the heck did I do that..I've completely forgotten! I looked everywhere in options and on the info about profile manager..please help, as I would like to place it on one of the other profiles that I have created.
Many thanks
