New email addresses go to personal address book regardless of the book I select in "edit details"
When I double click on the star next to a senders name in the header area to add them to my address book it pops up a small "Edit Contact" window. I select the address book I want the new address to go into and click "Edit Details". I enter the relevant info and click "OK". The new addresses always go into my Personal Addresses book instead of the book I selected in the original "Edit Contact" window. This is in Thunderbird 24.4.0. Tried it on 2 different PC's with the same result. One machine is Windows XP, the other is Windows 7. Any ideas?
Chosen solution
I think I found a work around. Click white star - it turns yellow. Click it again and select name and desired address book. Hit "Done". Click star a 3rd time and select "Edit details". Enter desired info and hit "OK". An extra step, but it works.

Single-click the star, not double-click, then click the star again to choose the address book, then click Edit Details to modify the contact info.
Nope. Same thing happened - it went into my Personal Address book instead of the one I selected.
I have tested and confirmed the procedure here. Make sure you perform the sequence in order, since if you click the first time, then view another message, the contact will be added to Personal Address Book.
If it still doesn't work, try in safe mode (hold Shift (Mac:Option) when you launch TB.
Still no joy. Regardless if in safe mode or normal. If I single click on the white star next to the senders name, the star turns yellow. Another single click on the star opens the dialog popup where I specify the name and desired address book. Then I select the "Edit Details" button which opens the properties dialog box to edit the contact info. I enter desired info and hit "OK". Address is stored in Personal address book regardless which address book I selected on the previous screen. HOWEVER, if I just type a name and desired address book in the first popup and hit "Done" instead of "Edit Details" it will be stored in the desired address book. Problem is, then I have to go look through that address book to find the name and then edit the details. Annoying.

OK, try this sequence: click the star, click it again to type a name and specify the address book, Done, right-click the star, Edit Contact.
That's basically what I was typing when you were responding. It works with left click on the 3rd click on the star as well. Thanks.
