Typing about:config in the address bar always results in a search provider's results, preventing me from changing the settings that would fix this problem!
I just installed Firefox 29.0.1 and immediately after restarting the browser, typing addresses in the address bar resulted in a page of search results instead of the webpage I typed. I know this behavior is because of a setting in the confuguration, but I can't get to the configuration since every time I type about:config into the address bar, I get search results! I need to access to the configuration , but this little gem in the update is preventing me from doing that.

- Make sure that you type in the location bar and not in the search bar.
- Make sure not to type a space between about: and config if you use the location bar.

Resetting Firefox should reset that preference - Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings .
