Disable download dialog box
Upon clicking a link to download a file, I am presented with a dialog box that asks if I want to open the file or save the file. How can I configure firefox to never display this dialog box and always save the file?

Hi!
Go to Menu > Options > General. Look under "Downloads" and click the Always Save Files To button and set the directory. Now, whenever you download a file, Firefox won't ask you where you want to put it.
I hope that solved your problem!

Thank you very much reply. This did not quite resolve my issue. The download options I found (firefox version 30) are under Tools > Options > General. There the "Save files to " is clicked and a directory is set. When I download a file I am still presented with a dialog box that offers me the options to "Open with" or "Save File" (see attached image). I do not want to see this dialog box. I just want firefox to begin downloading file. Is there a way to configure firefox to download the file immediately without prompting the user for any information. Again, thank you for your assistance. I hope you can help me figure this out.
Ah Samsung Firmware! The awesome times of flashing or restoring your phone after a hard brick. I know how that feels :/
Usually, that option below should be clickable after selecting save file. Is that not the case here?
When that window pops up, click "Save File" and then check the "Do this automatically for files like this from now on" box.
I hope that solved your problem!

The "Do this automatically for files like this..." is not clickable. It is greyed out and I cannot select it. Is there a way around this?
You would think that this kind of configuration could be placed in the firerfox download options.
Again thank you for your efforts to help. That option is not selectable for some reason. I would think firefox would have an option to illimate the prompts if desired. The "Do this automatically...." should be a "Always save file..." option under the downloads parameters in General.
Any other ideas?
Strange, clicking on "Save File" before trying to check the box does not work?
As far as I know, Firefox does not have an all-encompassing "save all downloads without prompting user" option. This could get a bit tedious, but you could follow the directions here and change all the settings of the file types to "Save file".
Finally, our support community is run by volunteers who work hard to help all Firefox users, but we can’t make changes to the design ourselves. Please help us improve Firefox by leaving feedback where the designers and engineers can see it: https://input.mozilla.org/en-US/feedback.
I hope that solved your problem!

Again, thank you Epicaleb for your efforts. I did try setting all the file types to save file as well, prior to posting my question. It seems that there is no current way to get around that dialog box. I also tried to find a parameter under about:config (typed in the url will show all the FF parameters. None there seemed to help either.
I will post the suggestion to the feedback link as you suggested.
I am perplexed as to why "Do this automatically for files like this..." doesn't do what it suggests it should do, which is bypass the confirmation dialog from that point forward.
I am also having this problem. I am using Firefox 33 and want to save the files automatically. The file that I am downloading is of type ".csv" and the "Do this automatically for files like" checkbox is greyed out.
What can I do to download it automatically like it does on Chrome browser?
Is there some addon that will automatically download any file from any server even if the Internet Media Type is not assigned properly?
Thanks!
