Lagging means that there is alot of memory is being used by Firefox so make sure you don't open enormous tabs and also watch your add-ons since there are some add-ons were reported to have problems with memory like memory lacking, etcetera.

i dont have no extensions i even tried completely resetting firefox and i use windows 8.1

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} While you are in safe mode; Press the Alt or F10 key to bring up the tool bar. Followed by;

Windows; Tools > Options Linux; Edit > Preferences Mac; application name > Preferences

Then Advanced > General. Look for and turn off Use Hardware Acceleration. Then restart.

i did that ...it still lags >:(

Then the problem may not be Firefox. Try this;

Check the programs that are on your computer

Windows: Start > Control Panel > Uninstall Programs. Mac: Open the "Applications" folder Linux:

  • Ubuntu Unity {web link}
  • Xfce: Applications Menu category sections
  • options depends on the package manager and the desktop environment

Go thru the list. If you find something that you don't know what it is, use a web search.

Start your Computer in safe mode. Then start Firefox. If there is still a problem, try FF in save mode also.
