On the Cookie set dialog pop-up that comes up when a site wants to set a cookie, and cookie preference is set to "ask me every time", the default selected button is always ALLOW. But in most cases one (at least me) would want to use DENY, in which case a click with the mouse is required, after the cursor has been moved over the button. If there is a way to get the default button to be DENY, only a quick tap on the Enter key would be required, which is much faster. This change would particularly be useful when visiting multiple new websites, or while going through a list of search results to check the sites, and one isn't sure yet you really will have any interest on the site and let it set cookies if needed. I am sure there must be some obscure string in about:config, but have not been able to find it. Thanks for reading.

It is usually better to use an extension to manage cookies rather then using the "ask me..." setting as that can give you a lot of dialogs and may also not always set the permission for the correct domain(s).

There are a lot of extensions that deal with cookies permissions available, so you can have a look at the Add-ons site to see if you can find one that suits you.

Thanks for the reply. I really couldn't agree with you that the confirm setting cookie dialog is tiresome, it works just fine for me and on the contrary empowers the user to positively have cookie control on the fly. Even tough I only have to deal with it once in a while I expect it to come up almost every time I visit a new site, as website cookie setting is really out of control nowadays.

I've been using this feature for years now, I forgot when I implemented it the first time I think it was FF v3.0. I just have gotten comfortable with it and wish I just could implement that little change in the preselected button to be Deny that would even make it better. As far as I know (I really have not looked much into it) there is no extension that would bring up a dialog notification to let you choose the way to handle a cookie setting request of a website like the native FF one does. I am sure (at least I would hope so) that on this forum there are talented people that know how to implement the simple change I need, so I really want to get try to get to the bottom of it. And if nothing else, it would be wise for FF developers to take note that the users that are choosing the "ask me everytime" option would most likely want to deny most cookies, rather than allow, so maybe consider changing that in the next build. Thanks for your suggestion tough.
