Always Find (Cntrl+F) From Top of Page

I have a question about using the find box (cntrl+F) to search for text on a page. I often search for some text, then hit cntrl+f to search for something new, and again...but find it annoying that it searches from my current position on the page.

Is there a setting to force it to always start the search from the top of the page when I type new text into the find box? Or some kind of addon/extension?

Thanks

Hello circonian, see if the next add-on fit you needs : FindBar Tweak

Thanks for the response, but unless I'm missing a setting, I don't see any option that will force all searches to start from the top of the page.

What happens with the add-on is, when the search gets to the bottom of the page, it will then go to the top to continue the search.

I understand, but I do not want my search to just wrap around back to the top...The items I am searching are in a specific order I only care about the first match found, so I do not want to waste my time hitting next, next, next, until it wraps around back to the top.

Hello. Long time, no hear.

Go to the top of the page. Click once on the top line. Now search.

If the search would start at the top then you wouldn't be able to go to next occurrence reliably. A search always start at the current position in the file. If text is selected then when you press Ctrl+F then this text is copied to the search field to be search for.

Internet Explorer does it. That is what the down arrow button is for on the find bar.

A search always start at the current position in the file.

I know, that is the problem. That is exactly what I don't want. I want a search like Internet Explorer that always searches from the top.

I want it to always start every search from the top of the page. I just thought there might be an option for it or maybe someone had written an extension to do so.

If there is no option to change it and no ones written an extension to do it that is fine, I understand, but I'm not looking for any kind of "work-around" or other options. If Firefox doesn't do it, I'll stick with Internet Explorer. It searches the way I want.

But I do want to thank everyone for trying to help, thank you for the replies.
