I have been going nuts the last day because when I go on to the internet using mozilla I get all sorts of pop ups like this page at Https://media.match.com says error exposing privileged or corss origin callable is prohibited

this is just one example of these annoying things that keep poping up. I have worked with norton on this and they said that it is only happening with mozilla I would like to continue using mozilla but if this keeps up I will stop and use explorer I would like someone from mozilla to help with this but I have found it impossible to connect with anyone at mozilla

any help would be appreciated. should I uninstall . and then reinstall.

Hi irajoel, I am sorry to hear that you are having problems with pop-ups when you use Yahoo with Firefox. I would like to point you to an article about the pop-up blocker that Firefox uses article . If you have everything set right then we can stop all adds and pop ups by using an add-on called Adblock plus. You can add this to Firefox ether by going to the Addblock plus website at this link . Or you can go to the Mozilla addon market place by clicking on the three horizontal lines in the top left.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you need any more information or help.

Unwanted ads also can be generated by add-ons. In case one of your extensions is involved, could you test the page in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode.

You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
  • Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

Not all add-ons are disabled: Flash and other plugins still run

After Firefox shuts down, a small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Reset).

Any difference?

I am still getting these pop ups I have done everything you suggested. When I go on to yahoo via mozilla the damn things start appearing. Yes I have gone to help and done the safe mode which yes stops them but not for long, as when I go back on they are still there popping up and I have to go and redo the safe mode again. this is tiring me out. I'm going to switch to another browser if this can't be fixed once and for all.

If the annoying pop-ups stop in Safe Mode, but return in regular mode, the most likely culprit is a bad add-on.

Here's my suggested procedure for tracking down and cleaning up sketchy toolbars and other bad add-ons. Sorry for the length, it's not as bad as it sounds:

(1) Open the Windows Control Panel, Uninstall a Program. After the list loads, click the "Installed on" column heading to group the infections, I mean, additions, by date. This can help in smoking out undisclosed bundle items that snuck in with some software you agreed to install. Take out as much trash as possible here.

(2) Open Firefox's Add-ons page using either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Plugins. Set nonessential and unrecognized plugins to "Never Activate".

In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if in doubt, disable (or Remove, if possible) unrecognized and unwanted extensions.

Often a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.

Any improvement?

(3) You can search for remaining issues with the scanning/cleaning tools listed in our support article: Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware. These on-demand scanners are free and take considerable time to run. If they finish quickly and especially if they require payment, you may have a serious infection. I suggest the specialized forums listed in the article in that case.

Success?

Based on what you have said I have come to the same conclusion as jscher2000. It is most likely a bad add-on. You should follow the steps that he has explained.
