First of all I think this started just this month. Firefox always takes long to load. But recently it takes forever to load a page. I just clicked on a link from my email and it took almost 10 minutes to load. A week ago I wanted to go online to Target store and it took 45 minutes to load. That site is slow but not that slow.

Yesterday I did a refresh, no change. Just now I did the troubleshoot plug-ins, turned off acceleration, looked at the health report and nothing was mentioned there. I looked at flash player but I just updated that last week. My husband is not having this problem but he uses IE 9. I haven't added any new plug-ins or anything new in that time frame. Paula

Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems Over time firefox can develope problems such as slowness, crashing, unwanted toolbars and more. Trouble shooting and fixing these problems can be very time consuming and trouble-some. The reset firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.

What does the reset feature do? All of your Firefox settings and personal information is stored in your profile folder. The reset feature go and creates a new profile for you while saving your: •Bookmarks •Browsing history •Passwords •Cookies •Web form auto-fill information

Warning: When using the reset feature, the following items are either NOT SAVED or set to their defaults. •Extensions and themes •Open tabs, windows and tab groups •Site-specific preferences, search engines, personal dictionary, download history, DOM storage, security certificate settings, security device settings, download actions, plugin MIME types, toolbar customizations and user styles

After the reset is finished, your old Firefox profile information will be placed on your desktop in a folder named "Old Firefox Data." If the reset didn't fix your problem you can restore some of the information not saved by copying files to the new profile that was created.

How do I reset Firefox to its default state?

1.At the top of the Firefox window, click the Firefox button, go over to the Help sub-menu (on Windows XP, click the Help menu at the top of the Firefox window) and select Troubleshooting Information.

2.Click the Reset Firefox button in the upper-right corner of the Troubleshooting Information page.

3.To continue, click Reset Firefox in the confirmation window that opens.

4.Firefox will close and be reset. When it's done, a window will list the information that was imported. Click Finish and Firefox will open. That's it – you're done!

I already did this. Only it says refresh; is that it. I don't see any reset button. It didn't help. A few months ago when I was having the problem where it locked up my whole computer I tried this, and even did a clean install.

go to command type prefetch and delete all the files in this folder after that go to your website and reload it.

I hope it will work. :)

I did that entered prefetch and got this message: "The prefetch folder is a subfolder of the Windows system folder. The prefetch folder is self-maintaining, and there's no need to delete it or empty its contents. If you empty the folder, Windows and your programs will take longer to open the next time you turn on your computer."

I mean I google this first by mistake. I couldn't remember where command was for a minute. What do you think??

Since my reply I have searched for info on this. Some in favor of deleting these others not. I found and looked at this file. I see in it a file called Ready Boost. I thought this was for using with a USB. My USB slots do not work except for my mouse and my Iomega external drive. (That is another problem I have been unable to fix.) I see most of the files in there are from 8/25-8/27/15.

Did you check your security software (Anti-Virus, firewall)?

Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

I don't know what I did but it seems to be alright now. I didn't get around to starting in safe mode. I looked at prefetch folder but I didn't delete anything since there were conflicting messages I read. The only thing I did was remove a lot of files from my Sims2 game which are still in the recycle bin for the moment. When this started I noticed I was low on disk space. Could that cause this? The disk space is better now. I did uninstall a couple of small programs.

I guess it is solved for now. But will keep the info for the future. Thanks for the help!
