On a desktop computer cannot get out of full screen mode so I can X out. F11 doesn't work.

Windows: Click in the window blank area, and press <Control> W

You may have corrupt xulstore.json or Localstore.rdf file.

Close Firefox. Open your file browser to this hidden location:

  • Mac: *~/Library/Application Support/Firefox/
  • Linux: *~/.mozilla/firefox/
  • Windows: %AppData%\Mozilla\Firefox\
  • *C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\

Locate the above files. Then rename or delete them. Restart Firefox.

Firefox uses the F11 key for the built-in fullscreen feature.

When sites use a script to go fullscreen (often with a video, but possibly also with a page), you usually can switch out of that using the Esc key.

If the keyboard shortcuts doesn't work, try moving the mouse pointer up to the very top of the screen to see whether anything drops down.
