In Gmail when I click on an email it opens in the same window. In Thunderbird it does not do this. Is there a setting in Thunderbird that will allow this?

When I use Gmail and click on an email, it opens the email right there in that window. When I delete or hit the back button it then goes back to my list of emails. In Thunderbird when I click on an email it just highlights the email and does not open. I have to double click the email and then it opens in a different window/tab. Is there a setting for Thunderbird that will allow it to work like gmail, that is, open the email in the same window and not in a new window/tab?

Thanks! That helps a lot. It's not quite like gmail, but it does do what I wanted so I'm good.
