My app for Thunderbird will not open - "not responding". (Mac)
The app on my desktop, which I've used for years, will not open. Message says it is not responding I downloaded another same Thunderbird app that doesn't respond either.

You failed to tell us what version of TBird you are running and what Operating System it is running in -- probably Windows, but we don't know and we need OS with version info.
First take: This seems like an OS issue, possibly permissions. Have you updated the OS recently?
I can fill in some blanks using what SUMO has skimmed - user posted with Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_13_5
