When I open a new tab with sound playback a new instance of firefox appears in sound mixer (Windows 10). I thought this issue was fixed recently? Am I doing something wrong? Sorry this issue is driving me nuts. The new tabs will reset the volume to match my device volume (100%) even though I previously set firefox to about 50%. Thanks in advance

Well, it was fixed in Firefox 60, but the 1709/1803 update(s) to Windows 10 apparently created a new preferences panel that works differently from the classic Volume Mixer, so it's not fixed in that new panel. I don't see a timetable for a fix (bug 1458034).

That has been a bug for quite while ......

For now you could try this :

Type in the address bar about:config and press Enter (promise to be careful, if asked)

Type in the search bar and look for the preference :

browser.tabs.remote.autostart

and set its value to false

Then close and restart Firefox.

Okay thanks, thought I saw somewhere it said it was fixed. My bad, guess I'll just wait.. as for the remote.autostart, it hasnt worked for me but I'll try again after I restart. Cheers, Steven

Just noticed as of 26/9/18 (could've been earlier) Windows seems to have fixed the issue on their end. Hopefully it doesn't keep reoccurring.
