I have had this error come up intermittently, but it always went away before. Now ... I am stuck.

I checked http://kb.mozillazine.org/5.7.1_Unable_to_relay but was still not able to send.

I was on the phone with my website support for an hour and they could not diagnose the problem.

I can send email to other email recipients hosted on our website, but cannot send to recipients outside our domain.

The same settings I have on my computer with the problem are on my iPhone and I can send email just fine from my iPhone.

I am using Windows 10. My Thunderbird version is current -- 60.9.0 (32-bit)

Thanks for your help!

According to the host's documentation, you have the correct settings for the outgoing server, but the absence of connection security (None), means that you can't send through this server unless the recipients are on the same domain, as the error states. Your best bet is to follow the advice given in the mozillazine article, "If you're using your ISP as a email provider....' and add a gmail or similar account and send through its (secure) smtp server. You can add your existing account to gmail on the gmail website as a 'Send mail as' address so recipients see your messages as being sent from the existing address, not the gmail address.

What server settings are you using? In Thunderbird Help > Troubleshooting Information Copy and paste all the info contained in the 'Mail and New Accounts' section, into a 'Post a Reply' text box in this forum question.

Mail and News Accounts ID Incoming server Outgoing servers Name Connection security Authentication method Name Connection security Authentication method Default? account1 (none) Local Folders None Normal password account2 (pop3) mail.glickman-law.com:110 None Normal password mail.glickman-law.com:1025 None Password, original method (insecure) true

Thanks -- Steve

Since my last post, I got this from my hosting provider:

We advise you to enable the SMTP authentication on your email program and retest on your end.

I did that and it worked!
