I have been using Mozilla Thunderbird for many years and just today for the very first time, after I opened the laptop after a long trip, all things are working very well, with the only exception of my Mozilla Thunderbird email program, I have 3 different email accounts loaded up, normally when I open Thunderbird all subfolders are showing automatically, now I just have 3 lines - one for each account with the email address of each account and a small lock on the left side, showing each account is locked - no idea how or why - never used such a lock function - I have a lot of emails accumulated over the last 5 years, work and private and need to work with all my subfolders urgently. I can write a new email but have no access to any of the subfolders they just do not show

Try this: Help/Troubleshooting, click Open Folder to open the profile in File Explorer, close TB. Delete or rename session.json and foldertree.json. Restart TB. Do the folders appear?

The lock on the icon just indicates the account is accessed through a secure connection.

If you right-click and account in the Folder Pane, Subscribe, are all the folders unchecked?

hi Sfhowes - many thanks for answering - if I right click and go to accounts then to subscribe I see a list of all my sub-accounts and all are checked but they do not show as usable subfolders I can now see them in the way you told me but they do not display as usual - so that I have access and can use them - please advice
