Can no longer "Save Image As"

I suddenly lost the ability to "Save Image As". Nothing happens when I select "Save Image As."

Things I've tried:

1. renaming content-prefs.sqlite file and re-starting.

2. reinstalling firefox (and running it with no extensions installed)

I'm at a loss. Please help. Thank you.

I got around this by installing firefox from a different source. It would seem that there's something wrong with the version in in the Snap Store:

Version 77.0.1-1 Source Snap Store Download Size 150.2 MB

As an alternative, I downloaded from the firefox website, and now it works.

Hello,

You may have seen a post or received a notification regarding support for Firefox or Thunderbird with a link to another site or a phone number being posted. This is a scam and is not a method to receive support from Mozilla. Mozilla does not have telephone or email support. Please do not click on the link and do not interact by calling any phone numbers or email addresses listed. I apologize for any inconvenience caused. You are currently posting on the official Mozilla website and will receive assistance here

Hi turtlerk, does this also affect other calls to system dialogs such as File > Save Page As (or right-click a blank area of the page > Save Page As) or File > Open File?

(I'm a Windows person, so I suspect I can't help, but I'm sure our Linux volunteers would have the same question.)

Thank you for the response, jscher2000.

Yes it does.

When I try to Save Page As, or Open File, nothing happens.

Hello,

Sometimes it helps to set Windows to show all file extensions, instead of hiding common ones. If you haven't already tried that, does it make any difference? This article has the steps:

Thank you for the response Shashank, but I'm not sure it is relevant. I use Ubuntu, not windows. And this problem goes beyond file names.

I can't do things like

Save Page As Open File Print

Try to create a new profile as a quick test to see if your current profile is causing the problem.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.

Thank you for the reply, cor-el.

I tried this and unfortunately, it did not work. I also reinstalled again:

to remove: `sudo snap remove firefox --purge` reinstalled from the Software Center

I then resynched with my mozilla backup. And then installed from the software center. Pretty amazed that a complete re-install didn't work.

At a loss.
