Thunderbird
Greetings,
Thunderbird 78.0, 78.0.1 and 78.1.0 cause complete loss of one's emails as at Tuesday 4 August. One has to start from scratch including setting up the account information.
The most recent one I can find that works is 68.11.0 .
It is necessary to immediately remove all of the 78.* thunderbird downloads unless they have been corrected. I will not be using these in future.
Fortunately I have an adequate backup regimen ...
edit: removed emails from search/spam bots view as this is a public forum and nobody here does support by email.

Can you offer bit more info so we can understand how this occurred?
Did you deliberately uninstall version 68.11.0 and then download and install 78.0 or 78.0.1 or 78.1.0 ?
OR Did you get a request to update from 68.11.0 to 78.0 ?
Please note: Thunderbird is not currently performing any automaticatic updates from version 68.11.0. If you receive a request to update then it is likely you have Updater Software on your computer performing this and it would seem from the issues in this forum, that those who allowed the auto update software to update Thunderbird have run into issues. I strongly recommend you do not allow Updater Software to allow Thunderbird updates - remove Thunderbird from it's list. Only let Thunderbird offer updates.
It is worth reading up on release notes before allowing an update. https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/78.1.0/releasenotes/
This is what I did to make sure I retained a good copy of Thunderbird and original profile, whilst also being able to download and run 78.1.0 version on an identical duplicate of profile.
Whilst running 68.11.0, I created a second profile, then copied all contents of original into the second copy thus creating a duplicate. I then downloaded 78.0 from the official website page and wheninstalling, I selected the 'custom' option and installed it to run on a different drive. I have a 'D' drive into which I created a 'Program Files' folder and installed thunderbird 78 into it. When it ran the first time, it create a new empty profile, I then used the 'about:profile' options to select my 'duplicate' profile. Everything worked ok. A few bugs that needed sorting but all was basically ok. That version of 78.0 did get an official Thunderbird update to 78.0.1 and a further update to 78.1.0.
The original version of Thunderbird 68.11.0 is still available with it's original profile and can be run independently and symultaneously. I needed two versions to keep running as I help on the forum and not everyone has updated because auto updates are disabled at the moment.
But perhaps the info may be of help to you.
