blocked incoming/outgoing email from Thunderbird via Win 10 security software to Att Yahoo email website. Get message that host does not recognize password. Started after 78.4.3 updated
Need an email to Att Yahoo with link that can fix the blockage. It needs to correct the info corrupted and re-establish inbound and outbound flow between Thunderbird and website ATT Yahoo email. (Or some one with remote control contacts with the know how to do this for me).
An update from Thunderbird may well over ride all this and correct the whole thing. Thunderbird has served us well since we had similar with Outlook Express then Windows Live before. Again we can receive email at Att Yahoo on line, internet is working just fine.

Both Yahoo and AT&T have made changes to password. Yahoo have been sending their customers an email about the update - although their advise is not the best to follow.
If you get mail via Yahoo server setting then then you need to use Authentication Method OAuth. If you get AT&T by other server setting then you need to create a secure mail key and use it instead of password.
If you are getting email and not using Yahoo server settings then AT&T say there has been a change in Authentication Method. So if you cannot / do not want to set up imap using OAuth and connect to Yahoo or do not want to use the server settings as above then you need to create a 'Secure Mail Key' as per instructions at link. Then use that 'Secure Mail Key' instead of the normal password in Thunderbird. AT&T advise on creating 'Secure Mail Key'
Remove stored password in Thunderbird Restart Thunderbird then enter that 'Secure Mail Key' at the password prompt.
If you use yahoo server settings then you will already be using the setting below, but you may not be using the correct Authentication Method.
IMAP Server name: imap.mail.yahoo.com
IMAP port: 993
Connection security SSL / TLS
Authentication Method: OAuth2
IMAP username Your full email address
IMAP password Your password
(AT&T) SMTP Server name: smtp.mail.yahoo.com SMTP port 465 Connection security SSL / TLS Authentication Method: OAuth2 SMTP username Your full email address SMTP password Your password
when you restart after checking settings, you will get prompted to logon to allow Thundrebird access and then a token is created and stored in Thunderbird.
cookies must be enabled in order for this to occur - some info at link.

Start setting up a new email account in your app. Your app may offer you a list of email providers that includes Yahoo. If it does, your email app is OAuth compatible. Be sure to select Yahoo as your provider.
I want to thank the contributor, above, for the advise. I sorted out my options...
The end result was creating a secure mail key from AT&T.com (copied) (and saved to a file in a program in our computer, too), then entered into the saved password page (as directed), removed existing and closed out of Thunderbird. Upon re-entry into Thunderbird, I pasted key in field with OK and immediately the inbound mail dropped in. I fully expect outbound to be active too just like always. Easy to test to other devices nearby. Toad-Hall, thanks to expert advise from a not so technical user!
