Issue with calendar on thunderbird

I just downloaded Thunderbird and synced it with my work account, that uses google. The calendar was able to sync and download all my appointments and events. however, I am unable to edit/add/delete any meetings or events from thunderbird. The read only setting is turned off, but everytime the calendar syncs, it goes back to "read only" setting. and I get an error message saying events cannot be edited due to "read only" setting.

Whats the solution?

How was the calendar added to TB, directly with CalDAV or an add-on like TBSync?
