Loading message on desktop app VERY slow

When I select a message it now takes a really long time for the content to load.

The message along the bottom reads "Loading Message.. " and then [my email address] : Sending login information

I am using a Mac and am connecting to my email in a Google account via imap.

Anything I can do to speed this up?
