When I type a keyword into the Firefox (where I would type a website address) it searches in Bing, although up until recently it searched in Google. How can I switch that so it will again use Google?

The engine used is governed by the "keyword.url" preference. I'm not sure how you managed to get it set to Bing, but if you restore it to the default value, you should end up back at Google.

Type "about:config" into the URL bar. Type "keyword.url" into the filter box. Right-click the entry for the keyword.URL preference, and click "Reset".

keyword.URL isn't fixing it. If this is about Google's privacy policies, Mozilla should at least have the courtesy to give some notice and allow informed adults to go back to a search engine that doesn't suck.

The problem that OP noted is occurring to me as well. I noticed this problem in the last week or so.

Firefox version: 3.6.4 Operating system: Win 7

The "about:config" reset does nothing for me as the setting shows that it already is set to google.

I just figured it out! There is a drop down arrow next to the BING logo in the search window of FireFox. Use the drop down window to select a different search engine like Google.
