I had a runtime Java plugin installed and I upgraded my firefox version and now a website with Java charts can't find my plugin. I want to re-establish the link to my old installed version so that the website can find my old Java version.

basically I can't put the new java on my machine, because its too old.

It's still there about:plugins found it Java Version: 5.0.110.3 and I DO NOT WANT THE NEW 6.O JAVA AS IT WILL NOT RUN WITH MY OLD WINDOWS XP WHICH needs a service pack I can't load.

I'm afraid that if I let the new 6.0 java be installed by the firefox plugin loader on then a key prg which needs java won't work. I just want the website to did want it did before I upgraded my version of Firfox which is to display the java chart. I tried the website in my old version of IE and the chart loads fine. www.bigcharts.com , Interactive charts. e.g. http://bigcharts.marketwatch.com/interchart/interchart.asp?symb=ibm&time=&freq=

This shows that it is not that the website needs a higher version of Java to load the chart.

Bottomline - how to I tell firefox to find the Java plug-in as it did before I upgraded my version of Firefox

Firefox 3.6 versions won't use Java 1.5.0, it needs the Second Generation plugin that come with 1.6.15 (or so) and above.

Thank-you Ed. Your reply confirms what I am experiencing however, it doesn't tell me how to fix it, without installing the Java 1.6.xx that will not run on my computer.

Is there a way to fool the Firefox plug-in connection and direct it to my old Java version that is already installed on my machine?
