Can I acess bookmarks from the W7 taskbar and can I sort bookmarks from folders?
I'm a recent convert to Firefox after many years as an IE user, and the only things that really hit usability / productivity are: 1. The ability to get to any bookmarked site straight from the W7 task bar with a single click (if you count auto-opening cascading folders). I do this by having the IR favorites folder as a toolbar on the task bar. 2. The ability to sort bookmarks so that individual top level bookmarks (about 10--12 most used sites) are sorted seperately (below or above) from the folders - I can't see how to do this? This works well from the task bar as in 1.
Can I do these things - or is there another way of accessing bookmarks straight from the desktop as a fast path to sites?
Any ideas gratefully accepted.

Without using add-on enhancements, or resorting to exporting & modifying folders you already have a fairly good set of facilities. I admit I can see some shortcomings in the bookmarks sidebar.
I use say 10 top level folders on the bookmarks toolbar, some with 2 or 3 cascading levels. If I employed the hidden overflow area that pops up at a single click along the side edge the capacity doubles.
My scrolling bookmark menu is also arranged for easy access of other bookmarks. Less frequently used ones are burried deeper within the bookmarks library.
Lets not forget the smart bookmarks can include tags, and can have 'shortcut keywords', and are sortable and searchable.

I forgot to elaborate on the How to search IMDB, Wikipedia and more from the address bar. They are intended for setting up searches, however you can also utilise them for any bookmark you wish. so if you enter say ac for acme. com bk1 for bank/headoffice. co and w for widgits. co you can use them as simple shortcuts
PS
Do not forget firefox 4 beta, now feature complete, that has new features for organising tabs short faq
