How to delete cookies on Android phone without removing Firefox Sync?

I want to be able to delete the cookies off my Android phone when using Firefox mobile, but without also removing Firefox Sync and my browsing history. (I.e. I want to keep sync-ing my history, bookmarks and passwords, but just be able to clear out the cookies occasionally.) Is this possible?

I encountered this problem in the Preferences menu, by clicking on the "Clear private data" button in the "Privacy & Security" section. That removed all history and passwords, not just the cookies, and also deactivated Firefox Sync.

This add-on provides an option to clear cookies without clearing other private data: https://addons.mozilla.org/mobile/addon/cleary/

Seems to do what I want. I'll test it a while, then hopefully be able to mark the issue as solved. Thanks!

The problem I can see is that next time you sync, everything from your desktop will be synced back to your phone, including all cookies.

Ah, that's not a problem since the desktop version of Firefox lets you control your settings more precisely. For example, you can tell Sync to not sync cookies at all, or you can delete the cookies easily (all of them or by site). The mobile version was just more clunky in that there was only one button which cleared everything.

You are right, I forgot that you can configure the desktop Sync differently.

Only bookmarks, history, tabs, logins, and form history sync between desktop and mobile Firefox. Preferences sync from desktop to desktop, but not from desktop to mobile. Cookies do not sync at all.
