I followed the instructions to import bookmarks from Internet Explorer. The end result is that about 50% of the web address extensions are incorrect and take me to a BBC website. How can I correct this?
I want to use Firefox as my default browser instead of Explorer. To do so, I need my bookmarks from Explorer. I followed the Firefox instructions to import my bookmarks from Internet Explorer. Although all of the folders and titles were imported, many of the web addresses attached to my bookmarks are not correct. Virtually all of those that are wrong take me to a British Broadcasting website instead of the correct web address. How did this happen and what can I do to correct it?
Here is an example: In Explorer I have a bookmark for the Minnesota Department of Commerce (http://www.commerce.state.mn.us/LicenseLookupMain.html). After importing my bookmarks to Firefox, the web address attached to the Minnesota Department of Commerce is http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-14797365.
The web address extensions for about 50% of my imported bookmarks are incorrect and take me to the BBC website.

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.
