I had Java 6 update 31. i had Chrome, and it worked fine. Afterwards, there was a update to Java 7 update 9. Due to an error i couldn't install Java 7, therefore i stuck with the Java 6 update 31. However, it didn't work. I enabled the extension, and restarted the browser, yet it still didn't work. I tried uninstalling Java 6 and installing Java 7, but it still doesn't work. I can't even get Java 6 now. I don't even have anymore Java's on my computer. But i need them. Any help? I'll really appreciate it.

Did you try to download the full Java 6 U37 and saved the file to your desktop?

You may need to run the Java installer as Administrator (right-click: Run as > Administrator)

Thank you!!! I got Java 6 U37 and did all your steps, and Java 7 u9 updated. But apparently there were rumors that Java 7 had malicious software. Do you think that's true?

I've updated to java7u9 and firefox 17 did not install the java plugin. It asked over and to install the java plugin. I've solved the problem doing the advanced workaround found here http://kb.mozillazine.org/Java#If_Java_is_installed_and_enabled_but_does_not_work

The problem is that Java is not detected by Firefox. So the solution was to copy the Java "np<*>.dll" plugin files from the Java application directory "bin" folder (e.g., from C:\Program Files\Java\j2re<version>\bin\) to my Mozilla browser's installation directory plugins folder (e.g., to C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\plugins). In fact the plugins folder do not exist. So I just created it and pasted 3 Java plugins files I've found, restarted Firefox and... It worked!

Really? You would think these companies would get their acts together. Why do they have to make it so complicated for us consumers to get a silly browser to work properly???????? -_-
