Also make sure that you do not run Firefox in (permanent) Private Browsing mode.

I have the same problem. It would be nice to be able to edit the saved password information vis a vis Norton. I changed a password. Firefox would only let me delete the current entry. It will not ask me to save the new information when I log in with the new password. If this can't be fixed, I'm going to have to install Norton 360 and slow down my Mac. Please help.

I deleted a password and the site it was for, hoping I would get another offer to save it again, so far I haven't, I have to manually type in the username and password every time .

No I don't have any virus protection, so nothing is interfering. Got any clues?

You did check that you aren't in Private Browsing mode?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

The website may be using autocomplete=off to prevent Firefox from saving and filling the name and password.

You can remove autocomplete=off with a bookmarklet to make Firefox save names and passwords and other form data.

Hello, I never private browse. The site is Google and another of my accounts is saved there. I deliberately deleted another account there as I had saved an incorrect password, dunno how I did that, never mind. If there was an option to manually type in the website and new password that would be very helpful.

Possibly if I uninstall Firefox then reinstall it might recognise the old deleted Google account as a new one?

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You can check for the presence of multiple, uppercase or lowercase, versions of that name and password or entries with an empty name.

• Tools > Options > Security: Passwords: "Saved Passwords" > "Show Passwords"

You can remove all data stored in Firefox from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History > Show All History" or "View > Sidebar > History") or via the about:permissions page.

Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox from that domain like bookmarks, cookies, passwords, cache, history, and exceptions, so be cautious and if you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make a note of those passwords and bookmarks.

You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of the affected files.

It doesn't have any lasting effect, so if you revisit such a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.

I'm so glad you're here. My built in RAM (short term memory) is bad, but my ROM (long term memory) is pretty good, I've remembered all my passwords i my head. :)

Hi, I can't find:

Tools > Options > Security: Passwords: "Saved Passwords" > "Show Passwords"

So I removed the cache, and deleted Google completely from the passwords area.

I restarted Firefox by way of he Profile Manager, after I created a new profile, leaving the old one there. That was just a test to make sure Firefox was actually functioning properly. As no passwords were saved as it was brand new I resigned into my Google accounts only, and saved the passwords.

After restarting the Profile Manager I selected my Default Profile, went back to Google and resigned into my accounts and saved the passwords as I was asked. Getting to be asked again was the problem if you recall? :)

So next time I think I'll just delete all the passwords and sites that aren't asking me anymore, and that should do it.

Just thought you'd like to know.
