won't allow me to try any of the "fixes" listed

Having trouble for weeks now loading Farmville and various other games. Started with try clearing cookies/cache and it won't even let me do it. Constantly getting error messages about shockwave flash plugin and whoa farmer. Can load pretty much everything else except Zynga games. Have not tried safe mode - am afraid it will lose all info but if it won't let me even clear cookies and cache first i don't feel i should try the next possible solution
