Lately some random videos that I try to watch just don't even try to load and instantly give off the "There was an error during playback" message I open it in IE and it works fine no problem. I've been trying to fix it on my own from reinstalling firefox or resetting it to trying a new profile. I wasn't getting this problem until I had to reinstall firefox to get myth-weavers.com to work. Ever since I freshly reinstalled firefox some videos have not work.

-Not blocked by isp -Videos are often from the same uploader. -seems like every 4 or 5 videos is down. -I went to try and update my plugins in stuff and this was found http://imgur.com/bGWnrSf -not sure what to do about above. -my java is up to date.

Ever you try Clear cache and cookies ,this error might because of corrupted cookies and cache . So try to clear cache and cookies first then play the videos again . For cache :

open menu> Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

For Cookies : Open menu > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

One another things is to try if nothing works i.e Safe mode .

Open menu>Open help menu(aside bottom)>Restart with addons disable.

if the problem not persist there then you check which extension caused this problem. find and uninstall that.Troubleshoot problem

my cache and cookies are deleted on browser exit

Hi Fayko, a couple of other users are reporting this problem, too.

Did you notice any difference in Safe Mode? To spell that out a bit more: Firefox's Safe Mode is a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode.

You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
  • Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

Not all add-ons are disabled: Flash and other plugins still run

After Firefox shuts down, a small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Reset).

Any difference?

Regarding your Java plugins, the "Deployment" one might not be updateable but the regular Java SE is. You can use the link on the plugin check page or http://www.java.com/en/download/testjava.jsp. But Youtube doesn't use the Java plugin, so that would just be for sites that do.

By the way, what problems was Firefox having with the myth-weavers site? Perhaps this new issue is related.

i believe the myth-weavers issue was on their fault, It wasn't running the scripts right and I was unable to save sheets using the enter key and the save sheet button disappeared.

As for the safe mode I've been trying it and to no avail so far.

If Safe Mode doesn't help, then it's probably not a problem with an extension.

A few other thoughts:

(1) For a video where this happens, does the problem persist if you try reloading a few times using Ctrl+Shift+r?

(2) Is there any difference in how you connect to Youtube between your browsers? You can check Firefox's connection setting here:

"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced > Network mini-tab > "Settings" button

The default is "Use system proxy settings" but you also could try "No proxy".

(3) Have you received any SSL-related errors on this or other sites, such as pages reporting a certificate problem and requiring you to make an exception, or missing styles or functionality on secure sites?

(4) If you opted in to the html5 player, is there a pattern of the problem videos being in one format or the other (HTML5 player vs. Flash player)? https://www.youtube.com/html5

1- i've tried reloading several times and it's like it doesn't even try to load it. It just instantly pops up with the error. 2- my firefox is set to use system proxy settings atm will try no proxy.

3- I don't believe so or at least if I have it was only one time and not recent. 4- I opted in for the html5 but I don't think youtube has been using the html player often.

okay so I just tried to restart in safe mode and while I could watch some of the videos that were getting errors there were others that would still error up. so like out of all the videos that were not working outside of safe mode some random guess of 50% of them are working in safe mode.
