Browser inexplicably closes, then won’t load previous browsing session

A couple of days ago, I had Firefox open when it unexpectedly closed. I found it odd that there was no crash report left its wake, but didn’t think much about it. I rebooted and reloaded the previous session. I waited and waited and waited. I knew something was wrong because it was taking way too long. All the tabs popped up and I could even read the titles, but it seemed to be stalling. What little interaction I had was very delayed. It was like it was stuck in some kind of loading limbo. I gave up waiting and rebooted the browser a couple of times, even restarted the computer. With still no luck, I reluctantly hit a restore point on my computer and it was back to normal. Until today. Within an hour (maybe less) it suddenly crashed and like last time, there was no crash report. I reboot the browser and the loading problem ensued. I used a restore point twice and it kept closing, followed by the loading stubbornness. I even checked to see if there was a program mucking it up. Finding and confirming three suspicious culprits, I removed them, but after another reboot attempt for both the browser and computer, the issue reared its ugly head. My only salvation seems to be restore points, but I’d prefer not to have to keep doing this - especially if it keeps occurring every half hour or so.

Are there any hints as to what happens right before it crashes? Is it a website that is visited or something being blocked, it is hard to say. After the next restore, if you start Firefox in Safe Mode does this continue to happen? #Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode

I've yet to try safe mode, but I will later if need be. As to the first question. I'm positive it's not something I'm visiting. Not only am I on different sites when it did this, but the very first time it crashed liked that, I was in a private window and had yet to restore the previous session, still on my homepage.

Something to add that may or may not help is that after I gave up (for the time being at least) I decided to simply start a fresh session, opening several new tabs. When I rebooted I was able to restore that session with no problem. I honestly don't know what that means, though. Too many variables for my layman understanding.
