How do I stop pop up advertising when I'm on a website?

Whenever I'm on websites I keep getting pop up windows advertising other websites. They're really annoying and taken me away from the sites that I'm trying to look at and they keep eating at my data time. Can anyone tell me how to stop these ads from popping up?

Hello, ahm you can Install an ad-block add on . :-)
