Second filter on messages does not appear to take effect

I have two filters on a message: forward the message based on "from", then mark the message as unread. The filter log shows that the message is forwarded, and that it has been marked as unread. However, I was expecting the message to be shown in bold text; indicating that it has not been read. It does not. Thoughts?

Two discrete filters? Or two rules in one filter?

One filter, two actions. If there is a match (top box)), then I want two actions (second box). First action is to forward, second is to reset the message to unread. For the record, both actions work if I apply the filter manually. The filter does not work on automatic scans of incoming mail. However, as I mentioned, the log indicates that both actions were taken.

Odd. I've just created a filter. Condition If Subject contains 'potty' Then forward email to my other email address and Mark as unread.

Sent an email from me to me. Waited. Auto located incoming mail and filter auto forwarded to other email address and both the original and the forwaded email are both in bold - unread - until I select the email.

I'm using TB version 31.4.0 Both mail accounts are pop mail accounts. My Options state: Tools > Options > Advanced > Reading & Display tab Selected : Automatically mark messages as read Selected: Immediately on display

So they are bold until I select the email in the list.

My setup is the same, except that all my accounts are IMAP. I just created a "potty" filter, and I see the new message come in (bold), then I can actually see the message turn to "unbold" in real time - without me touching anything.

I just modified the filter to mark the message as junk (without marking unread). that worked. I then added "mark as unread" to the end (so, forward, mark as junk, mark as unread). It only executes the first two. I then swapped the last two (forward, mark as unread, mark as junk). Forward and Junk work - no mark as unread.

All my iterations of the above always work when I execute them in manual mode.

Stumped...

Would this imap account be gmail?

It sounds like something like this os occuring. I'm thinking out-a-loud here ..... Gmail is archiving the forwarded email as read or setting 'Sent' email as read and therefore applying that label to all copies eg: those in Inbox. then Thunderbird shows it as read as well because it shows a copy of what is set on server.

Zenos: Does this sound like an IMAP label issue to you?

Incoming mail is Comcast IMAP. For my tests, I do forward to my gmail account, but I don't think that matters here. Tnx for your continued interest on this.
