How do I fix "error message 2032"

When I try to play certain videos from my MSN homepage I get an "error 2032" message and the video will not play. It does not happen with all videos and it does not happen at all when I use the Internet explorer browser.

When I researched this recently, it seemed the ERROR #2032 on MSN could affect both Firefox and Internet Explorer at random times. I started reviewing the threads on Microsoft's forum but didn't see a clear solution: msn video error #2032 site:answers.microsoft.com - Google search.

If you right-click the non-playing video, do you get a short menu with a mention of Flash on the last line (Flash player menu) or a long menu (Firefox video player menu)?

When I right click on the non-playing video I have a long menu with settings, global settings, and about adobe flash player as the last 3 lines. When I right click on a playing video there is a short menu with the same 3 lines

It's puzzling that some MSN videos play but others will not, but in both cases, Flash appears to be starting up normally.

Could you test in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode.

If Firefox is not running: Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox.

If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
  • Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

and OK the restart.

Both scenarios: A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Refresh).

Any difference?

No change when restarting Firefox in safe mode. But I just noticed that when I click on the same video multiple times, it will eventually play after the 4th or 5th time. (back in regular mode) Very strange?

Do you mean clicking the stop / play button on the player, or going back and forth using a link or reloading the page? Perhaps it is a glitchy connection issue.

It happens when I go back and forth clicking the link, but not all of the videos will work. I've been doing some more research and they said it may have something to do with shockwave flash and to try and go back to an earlier version. I think I remember something about that plug-in crashing but when I check, it looks OK. I'm not very tech savy but I'll keep working on it. Thanks for your help

Adobe does support/update one specific older version of Flash, which you can find on this page (scroll down to the Extended Support Release): https://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html (Firefox uses the one for "plugin-based browsers")

Most likely, you won't be able to install it without removing Flash 18 first. Adobe has an uninstaller tool. There is a link to it in our support article: Flash Plugin - Keep it up to date and troubleshoot problems.
