How can I save an email sent or received as a Word or WordPerfect file on a flashdrive or CD-ROM drive?

My computer emails are taking up far too much of my computer's memory. I would like to use a flash drive and/or a DVD drive to convert text in the emails from *.eml to a word processing format (ex., WordPerfect or Word) and recover the space taken up now by the thousands of .eml entries. Any suggestions?

Given both of the file formats you are suggesting are significantly larger that their equivalent text file (EML) it sounds to me like you are only making a rod for your own back. You will consume more space doing as you say that you currently do.
