I have made no changes to my thunderbird or gmail. In the last few days, when I send emails an unread copy appears in trash. It still sends the email but how can I stop a copy appearing in trash?

Two choices.

1. Disable automatic saves to mail being edited.

2. Change the drafts folder for the account to local folders. (My choice)

Right click the account and select settings. In Copies and folders for the account Change the drafts folder to other and select drafts on local folders.

At a guess Google changed something. (every other such complaint I have seen involved google)
