How can I verify a secure access (https) with software other than Mozilla?

With Mozilla, many sites have secure access problems (https). Can the sites be verified with an independant software other than Mozilla? This would confirm that Mozilla is not faulty. Site examples: www.digikey.com www.ieee.org
