Is it possible to merge mobile and desktop bookmarks?

I just started using Firefox sync, but was confused to see separate folders for "Mobile Bookmarks" and "Desktop Bookmarks". So if I want to access my bookmarks on Android, I have to tap "Desktop Bookmarks", then "Bookmarks Menu" to see my existing bookmarks hierarchy (I don't actually have any mobile bookmarks).

Is there a way to merge them so that if I tap "Bookmarks" on Android I see all the same folders I would see in the bookmarks menu on the desktop version?

Hi

Thank you for your question about better bookmark management in Firefox for Android.

Bookmark management is still being developed, but a delivery date is currently unknown. If you want an early look at this feature, you should install the experimental Nightly edition of Firefox for Android from Google Play.

Nightly is a pre-release version of Firefox, therefore it may contain some unresolved issues, but it will allow you to try the bookmark management feature in Firefox for Android. Once installed, long press on a bookmark to be given the option to Edit the bookmark, where you can change the folder or create a new folder for the bookmark to be stored in.

Please follow the Mozilla Blog for updates on this and other new Firefox features.

Doesn't really help the issue. The only folder to put bookmarks in to make them immediately accessible on mobile is "Mobile Bookmarks", but if I move them there, I still have to open the "Mobile Bookmarks" menu on desktop to get to them. I need all my bookmarks to be in the top-level folder on both devices. I don't need separate folders for mobile and desktop bookmarks. It wouldn't be so bad if the "Desktop Bookmarks" and "Mobile Bookmarks" folders weren't hardcoded, but the fact that they are kind of defeats the convenience of syncing my bookmarks.
