Hi cicero, In the Firefox 68.0 update, camera and microphone require an https connection to work. See this article for an explanation: Camera & microphone require https in Firefox 68.

i rolled back to the last version, im still having this issue.

I also have this issue, even on https, and it also won't allow my microphone to be used, seemingly on any site, even when I explicitly give the site permission. I've triple-checked, and the sites I'm using are over https and all have permission to use both my webcam and microphone. It's very frustrating.

Hi cicero, Are your microphone and webcam enabled/working on your System?

This article explains How to Manage Your Camera and Microphone Permissions with Firefox. Make sure the Block New Requests is unchecked in Permissions settings.

I never use my mic or cam. I plugged in my mic, enabled my cam, went to this site and they worked right away when I seleced Allow. Online Mic Test

I can't speak for cicero, but I have the same issue and the webcam and mic work everywhere else on my system. Only Firefox has any issues.

I've checked that the permissions are enabled in every way possible in that article, nothing works.

Reminder: when you're finished in Permissions -> Settings be sure to click Save Changes.

Yeah, the changes are definitely saved, every time I go to the site and check the settings it says that permission is granted. Still doesn't work though. I've tried everything, including uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox.

For future reference, instead of uninstalling/reinstalling try a Clean Install: Firefox keeps crashing at startup Scroll down to Try a clean install.

If the Camera and Microphone permissions aren't allowing them to work inFirefox, you might want to check elsewhere: Troubleshoot Problems - Other solutions

While you're checking elsewhere, just to rule out any possibilities, Go to Windows Settings -> Privacy Select Camera on the left At the top under Let apps use my camera hardware turn it Off Select Microphone and do the same

Go back to Firefox and see if it works.

Yeah I've checked all of that, none of it works.

The only thing left is anti-virus. Close Firefox first. Disable your anti-virus and try it again.

My only antivirus is Windows Defender. I've toggled every possible setting and retried everything and it still doesn't work.

Go to the site where you want to use your cam/mic. Right-click on any blank area and select View Page Info... A window will open similar to the screenshot. Click on the Permissions tab. Check through all of those settings for anything that might be blocking use.

Yeah I've checked those a dozen times, they're all set to Allow.

Have you tried it in Firefox's Safe Mode? Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode

Just tried that, didn't work.

I'm all out of ideas. The only thing that I would suggest is a Clean Install: Firefox keeps crashing at startup Scroll down to Try a clean install.

There's always the Last Resort - but no one recommends it - it's too much of a headache. Consider it very carefully: Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings

After you delete the program files, run a registry cleaner and restart your computer. Then install Firefox.
