Hi These instructions are assuming Windows but it may be the same for you At the top right of the Thunderbird window, click the menu button > Options > General > When new messages arrive: Uncheck 'Show an alert'. Uncheck 'Play a sound'. If not, look around in that part of the Options - Settings or whatever it is called on your system. Hope that helps!
