Right-Click Menus changed...WHY?

Why, oh WHY have we been forgotten? Why would you change these menus? Why wouldn't you think of your users first and wonder if they would want these menus changed? Why wouldn't you spend a little extra time and make an add-on that would allow US, the users, to decide what WE want and don't want in the context menus?

So after years of using features in the Right-Click Menus, Mozilla has decided that they know what we want better than we do and decided to change those menus. Making many of us scramble to find out how to access those features (if we still can) and changing our workflow to accommodate Mozilla's decision so that we can continue on with our daily routines.

If Mozilla is going to make arbitrary changes to the menus we depend on, the least they could do is to spend some time making an add-on to allow us to edit those menus instead of just shrugging and saying "oh well..."!

WHY would Mozilla change something that we've become dependent on without giving us the option of changing it?

Please don't answer this with..."well you can always install an older version"! That is not an answer, that is an excuse. Why should I have to give up using the latest version because they've decided to arbitrarily change one of the most important features without any thought to their users?

Someone thinks these changes are a good idea.

Which changes are interfering with your workflow?

It's very possible that a third party add-on exists to restore a removed feature, but you've probably noticed that those appear at the bottom, rather than in the original location. (It's possible to re-order menu items using other hacks if needed.)

So far I've found one that I used almost daily with was the Page Info page. Yes, I have found it under Ctrl-I or in the Tools menu...

...but that's not the point. Many users get used to doing things a certain way and rely on their software to act the same way when they take those actions. Mozilla has thrown us to the dogs and decided to modify those menus without any regard for their users. If they cared about their users, they would have created an add-on so that we could modify the context menus ourselves. That way, if we didn't like their changes, we could modify the menus back to what we were used to using.

If you know of any current add-on that allows users to modify their context menus (adding, deleting, & moving) please let me know. I just don't think that we should have to wade through the program and HACK it to make it work they way we want it to...you know like it worked before the last "upgrade".

Thanks for any help you can provide. Mark

Hi Mark, I know what you mean, but our scope in support is pretty limited.

Extensions do not have permission to change menus; they are limited to adding their own item(s). Basically, it needs to become a built-in feature, but I don't know who can code it and push it through.
