Firefox deleted my primary password

I have always used a primary password (aka master password) on Firefox and today I went to look for a password and it didn't ask me for the primary password. Could this be malicious? I use Malware bytes paid version. I doubt I did it accidentally. I've reset the password. How can I add a reliable additional layer of security on this? Many thanks in advance. Charlie

Hi Charlie, your primary password can't be removed without data loss unless the password is entered, so I don't think someone else could have removed it or removed the requirement to enter it.

That said, I wonder whether this is possible: what if the local file became corrupted and Firefox disregarded it, could a new one could be built from your Sync data without a primary password? The primary password is specific to an individual Firefox profile and does not sync. Hmm... ??
